RE: World Models 33% ultimate

Dang - the 110X is about 2lbs lighter still than the DA, I might not be able to balance the plane without adding some lead! Definitely something I'd consider for my next 33% project after the Extra....

RE: World Models 33% ultimate

I hate quoting myself, but I take that back after weighing my plane. The DA100 weighs more than a pound (1.1lbs) heavier than the ZDZ100. I would gladly trade a small spark plug hole in the pretty...

RE: World Models 33% ultimate

Finally got around to it, digital fish scale says 27 lbs 13 oz AUW. No CF anywhere (yet). Canisters added about a pound, but the LiPos probably saved me another 8-10 ozs.

Got about a dozen+...

RE: World Models 33% ultimate

Figueroa - As much as I hate flying wires myself, don't fly this Ulti without them or modify it to do so. The cross tensioning provides an extra level of "stiffness" to the wings, and I know the...

RE: World Models 33% ultimate

Ronbo - I love bipes too! But I haven't seen many of them in IMAC, but I haven't been to many competitions yet either. I have 3 Ultimates now and I almost picked up the Hanger 9 46% this week but was...

RE: World Models 33% ultimate

Couple/three things I forgot to add, as I mentioned in an earlier post the stock tail gear sucks. It went sloppy on me just testing it on the driveway before the first flight (the plastic tiller gets...

RE: World Models 33% ultimate

Ronbo - not sure I'd recommend this ship for IMAC (unless they're still giving bonus points for bipes, but I don't think so). In my opinion a better IMAC ship would be an Extra 300 or similar...

RE: World Models 33% ultimate

Maidened my 33% Ultimate yesterday on a blustery day. My gut told me I should've waited for less wind, but I don't get out as much as I used to so I took a chance. Didn't do anything fancy, just...

RE: World Models 33% ultimate

Smokey - hope you're a patient person! Yes, I used the stock metal hinges which was a lot more work than using the CA hinges. Someday I'll test the big Klett CAs on a plane of less value to me, had...

RE: World Models 33% ultimate

Saw the article. Interesting that Mike is "hoping" a 3-blade will make it quiet enough (based on past experience probably not). As accomplished a builder Mike is, you'd think he would try to put...

RE: World Models 33% ultimate

Thanks Smokey - hope it all helps in the end.

Here's the final canister install, next up is finishing the motor box, mount the motor, make the headers, mount the fuel tank, install the Powerbox...

RE: World Models 33% ultimate

Thanks for the tip Haneydmd - I TRY to remember to use Loctite (blue or red depending on the app) but it takes an incident like that to pop you in the head and say "Stupid me!!" would'a should'a...

RE: World Models 33% ultimate

Did the blind nut thing to the motor box sides for the wood cabane supports (which is the way the AW manual says to do it) works great! Make sure you put the blind nuts on BEFORE you glue in the...

RE: World Models 33% ultimate

Smokey - yep I used the glassed filled plastic arms supplied and mounted them on the white nylon wheels that came with the Hitecs (wishing they were black). I pushed the arm onto opposite side of the...

RE: World Models 33% ultimate

Okay Smokey - here goes some what I've done lately, pictures coming someday. Still recovering from knee surgery.

Control surfaces done, not sure I liked the black plastic covers provided to...

RE: World Models 33% ultimate

Smokey - I'm guessing the CF gear will be in the $60-$70 range (based on their existing stuff for 33% planes). I'm going to need to drop some weight as well since the cans will add almost a pound to...

RE: World Models 33% ultimate

My World Models 33% Ultimate arrived this afternoon in 3 nicely packed boxes. All covering is tight, no sags, no apparent damage or defects. Paint on the cowl is top notch. If these are "rejects"...

RE: World Models 33% ultimate

Guys that have their's already, what kind of hinges came with it? I've always used Robart hinges in my big planes, AW manual says their's comes with CA hinges and STRONGLY recommends 1/4 scale Klett...

RE: World Models 33% ultimate

Just ordered a red one. Might start a build thread if anyone cares. Putting a ZDZ100NG Blue in it, JMB cans. The price was TOO good to pass on these "AW rejects". Call it an expensive experiment....
