Found the problem. I was using a power supply at 5.56VDC. For some reason it was fine for binding, but not for flight mode. Was thinking what was in common to this new "matched radio and receiver"...

Taranis Radio Binds But Doesn't Bind

I follow the binding routine (various but all end up with the same result).
- Mode D16, Ch 1-8 (or 1-16) ; no jumpers on X8R; do nothing with [Range]
- When press Ent at [Bind], the X8R Green-Red...
