RE: For those who love World War Two Fighters

Thanks for the map, Jolly. Last year we were close by to that just a little south, visiting Haleslworth, and Bungay (Flixton) where my dad flew out of.

RE: For those who love World War Two Fighters

Hi Phil: Thanks for that info. I'm sorry to hear that the base is going to be closing, especially with its rich and honorable history the past 65 years. I hope your r/c group will be able to...

RE: For those who love World War Two Fighters

Hi Phil: Great pics as usual. Can you give me a location idea of where Coltishall is (one that an American could understand?) Also, it looks like it is still in serviceable shape for full size...

RE: For those who love World War Two Fighters

Thanks Mr Jolly:
I was trying to upload some pics of my next model going to the Evergreen Museum next month. These were of P-47M Lorene flying back in June at our Warbirds Over the Rockies contest...

RE: For those who love World War Two Fighters

Hi Phil: I think it will be a good home for it for many years to come. We're making preparations for the installation of my other plane, a P-47M, which will be installed in the Evergreen Aviation...

RE: For those who love World War Two Fighters

Hi Phil: Nice pics of the fighters. I thought you might like this one which was taken recently at the Kalamazoo Aviation Museum (Air Zoo) in Michigan. My P-47D Hairless Joe model is now retired from...

RE: For those who love World War Two Fighters

Thanks for that info, Phil. I haven't done a checkered cowl before, but that makes sense as to how to adjust the squares for the taper of the cowl. If I make one some day, I'll employ that technique....

RE: For those who love World War Two Fighters

Hi Phil: Looks great! What technique did you use to get such a uniform look to all the squares? Did you have any problems in area where the cowl curves or tapers? Thanks, DaveGee

RE: For those who love World War Two Fighters

Hi Easytiger: You'll have to forgive me, but you'll need to fill me in with the details. I may be, but your comments don't ring a bell with me at the moment. Maybe early senility...DaveGee

RE: For those who love World War Two Fighters

Hi Cary: Thanks. Your "Jug" looks pretty nice, too! I'm thinking of doing a collaborative effort with a friend making a Yellow P-47 next time. Since you've built several of them already, I was...

RE: For those who love World War Two Fighters

Hi Phil: There was a cockpit kit, not a whole bunch, some instruments, dash, that was available as an add-on with the kit, but it was mostly scratchbuilt. I was pretty familiar with the cockpit...

RE: For those who love World War Two Fighters

Hi Phil: Yes, it was a great thrill to have Russ Kyler make the 900 mile drive from Texas to attend our Warbirds show. At 81 years of age, he has a tremendously sharp recall of his experiences in the...

RE: For those who love World War Two Fighters

Hi Phil: as an update, we did fly my new P-47M Lorene several times safely, and flew it at our recent Warbirds Over the Rockies event last weekend. Russ Kyler, who flew the real one out of Boxted 60...

RE: For those who love World War Two Fighters

Hi Phil: I'm trying to remeber if you wrote of this before, (forgive me if I'm in error) but I thought we discussed a certain RAF memorial honor roll that had the names of the RAF pilots killed in...

RE: For those who love World War Two Fighters

Yes, I know Phil. A great guy, and a great modeler, too. I saw his beautiful A-24 Banshee at Boxted last summer, along with his B-26 under construction. I understand it is coming along towards...

RE: For those who love World War Two Fighters

Hi Phil: Yes, it is an exact 1/6 scale kit. It is made of carbon fiber, the good news on that being that every rivet, panel line, etc, is molded into the skin. The bad part of that is that the kit is...

RE: For those who love World War Two Fighters

RE: For those who love World War Two Fighters

Here's a few outdoor shots of Lorene at the field. Ran up the engine, but on the range check before our maiden flight, the battery had a massive coronary and died. We lost total control of the...

RE: For those who love World War Two Fighters

Phil: My friend and colleague from work just won top place in Team Scale at TopGun with his F-86. I'm struggling to try to get up to his unbelievable standards of excellence.

RE: For those who love World War Two Fighters

Hi Lee: I would like to, but I'm afraid it's just too much work and expense to do that again. Last year was a one time deal, but I'm glad I did it. We are hoping to attend this year's show at Boxted,...
