RE: Larger Revolver

I turned on the transmitter, and I turned on the onboard reciever, and I turned on the onboard ignition system...the only thing I didn't turn on was the opto-kill (safety) switch which is linked to...

RE: Larger Revolver

Just don't forget that you have a throttle kill switch, if you set one up! I spent about 20 minutes the other day trying to start my engine, only to finally realize the throttle kill switch was off!...

RE: Larger Revolver

I agree that many times people are encouraged to buy "overkill" servos. I found the following servos which seem to be very attractive in terms of power vs. price. They are analog servos, but I'm not...

RE: Larger Revolver

I'm a thumb flyer as well. Good questions. Don't know the answers. I also get to the point where my thumbs go numb!
A quick shake of each one helps for a bit. I wonder if this is a symptom of flying...

RE: Larger Revolver

So what in general are the torque requirements for 30cc vs. 50cc planes when 3D is the desired flying style?
You are right in that the cost of the airframe is such a small part of the overall cost...

RE: Larger Revolver

Amen to that! I found a video of 10 jet crashes on YouTube once and sent it to some fellow flyers...my caption was "10 reasons why I won't fly jets".

RE: Larger Revolver

I'm building my first 30cc gas engine airframe (GoldWing Su-26), so I'm anticipating huge shakes when I take that beautiful plane out for it's maiden!

RE: Larger Revolver

Gary,
I'm building an Su-26m 30cc from GoldWing. I'd be interested to hear about your build of the Pilot Extra 260 50cc.
Here is my build thread: http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/m_10374977/tm.htm...

RE: Larger Revolver

microdon2,
GoldWing has some really affordable 50cc kits and there are quite a few good dealers out there selling this brand and the DLE-55.
I think a 50cc Revolver would be awesome, but until...

RE: Larger Revolver

Gary, I have a Magnum .91 on a Twist 60 and I've never had to worry about or use the choke...you can safely just ignore it.
You shouldn't need to choke it to start it.
I would love to put my Magnum...

RE: Larger Revolver

I don't have the model, but I checked the manual after downloading it from Tower Hobbies.
The manual does not state anything regarding right thrust adjustments.

RE: Larger Revolver

Good to know....there are multiple options for getting an inexpensive gas engine.

Now all we need is an 80inch or 84inc version of the Revolver so we can fit the DLE-30 into it!

The 70inch...

RE: Larger Revolver

Yes, I have to agree...with the price of glow fuel being $16-$20/gallon and the cost of a gas engine being comparable to that of a similar sized four stroke glow engine, the move to gas is imminent...

RE: Larger Revolver

Tower has this spec for engine on the Revolver 70:

Engine .61-.75 (10-12.5 cc) two stroke OR .81-.91 (13.5-15 cc) four stroke

so your O.S. 61FX is definitely on the low end of the range.

RE: Larger Revolver

I'd be happy to give a flight report but I have to get the plane first!
I got the engine with Christmas money.
And yes, it is still on sale at HobbyPeople.net for $139!
The Magnum 180 is...

Ok - I can see the Saito 1.10...that's at least within reason...but the Saito 1.80?
That's beyond reason!
I'd love to see some video of that thing flying....just imagine the sound!

RE: Larger Revolver

I still can't believe you are going to fit a Saito 180 into the Revolver 70"!
I hope you will provide us with pictures.
I'm planning to put a Magnum .91 FS into mine.
I'm starting to worry that...
