Al is correct; the 17x6 will fly her well - to about 65-68mph. The 15x10 gets about 9800rpm in the air (Eagletree monitor), and about 8600 on the ground at sea level.
You are also correct on the...

Guys - think about the 15x10 as well; more speed, more responsiveness. Still unlimited vertical on a well tuned DLE20

Hi Al:
I do have both the R70 and the R90. Which i fly more is hard to quantify. I love the R90 for a relaxing day of 'sport' flying. The colors and patterning present well against most skies (in...

Hi Jeremy
I don't know of an online calculator.
RPM x pitch (in inches) / 12 (inches/ft) = feet per minute.
Divide that number by 5280 for miles per minute; multiply that result by 60 for miles...

Teckbot - a couple of things:

1. The details are important when reporting speed. Are you talking straight and level, maintained speed, or max speed coming out of a dive? Is that a radar gun, or...

welcome lean run

warbird - the 50cc version (R90) is really nice, but more tame than the R70. And the R70 is more tame than the R57 (I understand).
The R90 builds heavier than most 50cc...

Roy R - I'm guessing that your #7459 was directed at me, so I'll respond. I'm not arguing, or picking on you, but I think you misrepresented the tone of the comments about modifications.

Proline
You obviously will decide for yourself, based on your flying style and aggressiveness how to set up your rudder and elevator. IMHO pull pull is probably the best solution for the R70 (like...

Proline:
Think about setting up the rudder as a pull-pull, rather than a push rod. A 2-56 rod will have a lot of flex, and therefore a lot of imprecision controlling the rudder. If you are set on...

The stock R70 gear are swept back, bringing the main gear line (your 'pivot point') more towards the CG of the plane (more aft than the mount). The Dubro gear are straight, and will make...

Hi Al; agree with you on the hinges. I think this airframe's potential for speed >110 mph, and the way many of us like to push it rules out CA hinges.

I have had two failures of Gorilla glue...

Hey Mach2
Interesting idea, but can you imagine trying to keep your eyes on YOUR R70, among a flock of two dozen, when they all are in original livery / colors?

I find that the DLE20 does dry out if it has not run for a week or so. Mine takes 10 flips choke on before it pops if I have not flown for a few weeks. After that, starts quickly. At first...

+1 on ahicks' and VR's comments.

I might add that it is useful to pick up a 2-56 die, and a 4-40 die. That way, you can cut rods exactly to the length you need, and thread the ends about 1/2...

RE: Larger Revolver

JH
2-56 hardware is generally OK.
You might try encasing the 2-56 rod with a carbon fiber tube. Rough up the rod with sandpaper or steel wool, and coat it with a light coat of 30 min epoxy. ...
