Large wrinkles have a way of coming back when you take it out into the sun. I think it helps to put a small pin hole in the center of a large wrinkle before ironing it down.

On my smaller planes I have used 1/4-20 nylon bolts for the landing gear. They nylon bolts would give way before it would break out the fuse. There might be a way of doing that on the larger...
