You should always have a radio-enabled ignition...

You should always have a radio-enabled ignition switch that can shut the engine down, on all gas-engine aircraft. It is very dangerous to fly without one, as you found out.

Here's a photo of the cowl cut. A little more cutting was needed mainly to clear the included O.S. muffler, but it's really no worse than any other inverted gasser.
