Concerning the smell of gas. When i transport mine I empty the tank and then put a stopper in the vent line. Also close the throttle. I know, i know.. All it takes is a hint of fuel and it can stink...

What i do for weight is this:

I drill large 1.5 inch holes in a piece of 2x4. (or anysizeyou want)Then get some lead weight .. old fishings lures , etc, take your torch and melt the lead...

I hear you on that.. I have a real crappy HD camera. It takes good video close up, but forget when the plane gets up in the air.
I did have one guy do a good job for me when I flew my Revolver Bipe....
