Like John's, my elevator was flush with the top of the stab. I also had 5 degrees of down thrust and CG at 13".

If you read the threads you'll see that most use 5 degrees of downthrust. The real answer is that it depends on your engine and how fast you want to fly. Without some downthrust the plane wants to...

I also prefer the old style. However, if you make the second pilot optional that's okay.

Ed,

We can disagree about whether or not it's a good idea, but you can't disagree with physics. Carbon fiber does in fact interfere with radio waves. That's why some radio manufacturers offer...

That's a big mistake since carbon interferes with radio reception. You can get the same look by using stick on vinyl with a simulated CF pattern, which is what a lot of guys do.

Luke,

I'm definitely interested if the price is right. My advise is to offer them unpainted. You'll need to pay yourself for the labor and materials, and some will want to redo it anyway.

The only planes, jets or otherwise, that need a powerbox are the very large ones with a lot of high current servos. I sure the Pantera doesn't need one and probably not the Scorpion. Robart 635's...

Refer to the Falcon 120 instruction manual. The recommended throws and CG are an excellent place to start. The only one you need to change is the flap setting. You'll need about 45 degrees (with...

RE: Bob Cat Copy Falcon 120 Jet

I have a Wren SS on mine (same weight as a 54). To get the proper CG my batteries ended up at the nose wheel well. Of course there are a lot of variables that can influence that, so YMMV.

RE: Bob Cat Copy Falcon 120 Jet

Nitro Planes has them on sale right now for $128.70. It'll be hard to beat that price.

RE: Bob Cat Copy Falcon 120 Jet

It's not a good idea to risk a $4000+ investment on no-name Chinese servos of unknown quality. Use good JR, Futaba, or Hitec servos on all control surfaces. Also I recommend using digitals on primary...

RE: Bob Cat Copy Falcon 120 Jet

They're not needed as long as you have a slight nose up attitude. A couple guys in the area have theirs set up wrong, with negative attitude. If that's the case it will need take-off flaps to...

RE: Bob Cat Copy Falcon 120 Jet

5 degrees works fine with a 14-15 pound engine. A Wren SS is a good power match for a Falcon 120. I found that mine still had a tendency to climb at higher throttle openings with 5 degrees. I...

RE: Bob Cat Copy Falcon 120 Jet

That should help a lot. While you're in there I suggest that you also beef up the retract mounts. Lengthening them so that they span 4 ribs with a good piece of hardwood would do the trick.

RE: Bob Cat Copy Falcon 120 Jet

If the linkage is set up as you suggested in post 3964 then it doesn't matter.

We can agree to disagree on this one, Mike. My approach is to use digital servos on flight control surfaces and...

RE: Bob Cat Copy Falcon 120 Jet

That's good advise regarding the linkage. However, it's best to use analog servos on flaps. If there are any binding, over-travel or centering issues (and there usually are with flaps) digitals...

Tim,

Since you're thinking about removing the booms check out what this guy did. I like the twin fin version best. There's no reason why it wouldn't work as well with a turbine.
