RE: C-ARF Ultra Flash build Thread + Video

IFlyEm,

Thank you for the expansion and helpful pictures. Expanding on my previous note as well, correct me if Iā€™m wrong, but it appears that basically what you are saying is that a more...

RE: C-ARF Ultra Flash build Thread + Video

I see, IFlyEm. It seems that what you are saying is related to what some call the load factor, which is known to affect stall speed (though not in a linear fashion - root square, if I'm not mistaken)...

RE: C-ARF Ultra Flash build Thread + Video

I think I get it, BlueBus. I must confess to never knowing that the lack of prop wash played a role in stall speed -a very interesting peculiarity of jets...

RE: C-ARF Ultra Flash build Thread + Video

Could you please elaborate on that basic concept (for the non-aerodynamicist)? I always thought that, with regard to weight, the stall speed was affected only by the overall weight and not by the CG...

RE: C-ARF Ultra Flash build Thread + Video

That is one great looking plane! Congrats.

Btw, where did you get that nice field box with a support on it? Is it custom made, or available for sale somewhere?

RE: C-ARF Ultra Flash build Thread + Video

Greetings Dave or anyone who may wish to chyme in,

I am re-fitting my classic Flash with the Ultra Flash upgrade kit. As everybody else has already said, it was a PIA to re-fit the wings and...

RE: C-ARF Ultra Flash build Thread + Video

Thank you, Dave, but the pegs don't fit inside those tubes/sleeves, so I assume that they should not be the fuse sockets (?).

RE: C-ARF Ultra Flash build Thread + Video

Greetings,

I saw the small hardware package that comes with the UF upgrade kit at an RC auction and noticed that, in addition to the carbon pegs (2 for the wing and 1 for the stab), there were...

RE: C-ARF Ultra Flash build Thread + Video

Certainly, air retracts will not disappear. And it may be a few years for electrics to become the preferred option in new installations. But I am among the many who believe that it's coming, for good...

RE: C-ARF Ultra Flash build Thread + Video

I forgot valve and cylinder lubrication/maintenance :D

Fact is, this type of reaction is typical when new (good) technology comes along. You can bet that electric retracts will dominate...

RE: C-ARF Ultra Flash build Thread + Video

What about leaks? Having to replace tubes/connectors every now and then? Btw, the 3 electric wires in electric retracts are glued together - i.e. they are actually just one.

Then there is the...

RE: C-ARF Ultra Flash build Thread + Video

So far I've used Flight Modes only in 3D prop planes, exactly for the 3D maneuvering. I haven't felt the need in any other scenario myself. I feel it's certainly an advance and a useful feature that...

Dave,

Very sensible post, as usual. I couldn't agree more with you.

I was just curious about your take on Modes.

Thank you,

RE: C-ARF Ultra Flash build Thread + Video

Dave (Wilshere),

Do you use Flight Modes on your UF, depending on the turbine - i.e. particularly if big blocks are used? If so, what is your set up for each Mode (I already know your "standard"...

RE: C-ARF Ultra Flash build Thread + Video

To Dave and others using the P80SE or P100RX: would you recommend adding the wing tank, or just the fuse tank would be a better option, as far as the compromise between flight times and performance?...
