Sounds like it could be an ignition problem. But have you checked all the obvious possible fuel scenarios? Loose klunk, split fuel line, intermittent fuel pump, blocked fuel vent? is your system...

The best gasoline to use is 87 octane low lead with no ethanol and the best 2 cycle oil to use in a Kolm Motor, in my opinion, is Amsoil dominator. You can also use Red Line or Klotz all of these...
