Default West MI Jet Rally 2018

This year, the West MI Jet Rally is scheduled for June 7 - 9 with the addition of open fun-flying on June 10. With a paved 3800' runway, RC Taxiways and Pit Row the event is an unforgettable experience. Pit Row will have two very large tents and plenty of space for your trailer and/or pop-up. There will also be an overnight storage tent. Come fly with the sun to your back all day. We draw pilots from as far away as Tennessee, Ohio, Indiana, Illinois, Wisconsin, Canada as well as all over Michigan. On-site food service provided by Dave's Riverside Café. Free onsite camping and RV parking. Motels and full service campgrounds within 1/2 mile. Once you come join us, this annual event will be on your calendar for the future! Baldwin Airport RC Park. Default Here are the West MI Jet Rally Links

Looks like the links got dropped and can't be edited so here they are:

Here is a 2015 video showing the site. We have expanded the Pit Row, added large tenting and added startup pads since. Enjoy the view!

Well we have several new sponsors. The Pilot's Raffle prize table is starting to look really good! The overnight storage big top tent cost is covered. Looks like a lot of you have already reserved rooms in the local motels. We will have another 75' of paved pit row available. Should be an excellent event! Moving campfire circle into the camping areas. Thursday night cookout. Several of us warmed up the field last week with a mini-rally.

Default Motels are Listed Below

Sponsoring motels are listed on the attached page (Outdoor Inn & Baldwin Creek.)

Pilots have been booking for this event as far out as a year ago. There are other motels. But we like to get the biz to our sponsors first, and these are the nicest in town.

If these motels are booked up, please feel free to give me a call for additional assistance. (907) 903-3569

I visited our sponsoring motels yesterday. They are booking up. One or two are probably already fully booked.

So I attached a list of motels in town and the last one is about 8 miles north of town. The rest of them are fairly close.

Better book now. If you snooze, you lose!

By the way, on the previous flier, the number for the Baldwin Creek Motel is wrong. It is correctly listed below. I'll try to fix that later tonight.

Hope to see all you Jet Guys at the event. I am told there is no better place to fly RC Jets in the Mid-West! After traveling around this year, I too am beginning to believe it!

Given our schedule, the West MI Jet Rally (June 7-10) is a good warmup for Winamac. But, ... We have the 3800' x 75' paved runway with asphalt pit row and ramps to the runway. You drive them out there versus carrying to the runway! Fly with the sun to your back all day! We draw pilots for TN, OH, IN, IL, WI, CN as well as all over MI. Once you come to this event, it will be an annual stop on your jet calendar! Also, don't forget our Mi Jet Pilot's Boondoggle (August 9-12). Last year we had a couple pilot's feasts as well as tons of flight time! Pilots fee for each event is only $25 for the week. With some national sponsors this year, our Pilot's Raffle has some really great prizes. Free onsite camping for pilots and family is also allowed. We have plenty of staff for spotters and other necessary assistance. Large overnight storage tent with walls. The atmosphere is really laid back. We strive to treat all our guests as family!

Recently brought on several national sponsors. We have a lot of really nice jet products for the pilot's raffle! Don't forget that the West MI Jet Rally is this weekend!

Is there anything to do in the area if it rains for one day?

There is Ludington (30 Minutes away) and Traverse City (60 minutes away) and Grand Rapids (60 minutes). Lots to do on rain days. But, in the past we had a good time sitting out the rains. Typically, if it rains for a while and then clears right back up. Even if the forecast says thundershowers, they typically pass right thru and clear up. Made a lot of good friends during past rain days.

Well, ... 42 registered pilots, over 60 jet planes and well over 200 flights. The 40' x 60' storage tent was full!

Thanks to our new sponsors, there was well over a $1K in jet stuff of the pilot prize table. Best of all, over 2.5 days with my extended family, Jordan maidened her huge F-86, and I finally met Carl.

I personally thank all the pilots that showed up. I know we all had a great time. The pizza party last night was really great. Learned a lot about the history of our great sport.

If you missed this event, well, ... There is the Michigan Jet Pilots Boondoggle coming up the second weekend of August. Or come on in for the West Michigan RC Expo the second weekend of July.

I'll post some pics later. Have to run back out to the field as there are still several pilots that stayed over for an extra day of flying at our RC Park.

Len:

It was great to see you and everyone again. One of the best venues to fly bar none. I only wish I could visit every year.

Thanks for all the great hospitality!

Nick
