good day, some weeks ago I bought the joker, its gonna be my first jet I live in bogota at 2600 mts over sea level and want to fly in my grass field. what turbine engine I must buy? what is your recommendation? i am thinking on jet cat 100 rx or king tech 120. considering the grass field and the altitude I thing best option is 120 but I’m not sure.

thanks javier

Javier

The model flies with a 60N turbine, 80N is good performance and P-100Rx is perfect for your use.

So are the jokers tough like the flash/lightning? Can they handle being over powered?

No. 100N maximum. It's made lighter, its not the usual CARF tank.

thanks dave for your advice. but with 100N its enough to beat the grass and the lost of power because the altitude? how many kgs I will lose with this altitude? i thing 92% will be the total achieve power or maybe less at this altitude. thats mean if I have 100N I will lose close to 1 kg of power and will be close to the aircraft weight thats my concern.
I just have one shot to get the right engine.

thanks again dave, gentlemen,s

The aeroplane flies from grass with 60N, so thrust is not a problem. Wing won’t work as efficiently so keeping weight as low as you can is more critical, but Joker is lightly made, midi servos- just don’t add unessacary weight with internal paint etc.

Add a little more take off flap over figures ( +5mm) and you should be fine.

The JR importers here had their own range done when JR servos went in the smaller sizes, branded MacGregor they are 3401 size MG. it’s a servo we have been using in things like a Mini Wizzard and other small size jets. The first yellow Joker I flew has them in it.

Other than the canopy, it’s lighter. It has no ducting, lighter layup and different turbine mounting and thrust tube set up. The servo mount install is factory done and obviously the electric gear set up is different.
If you want to chat call me in the office.

Has anyone installed gear doors on their Joker?

I just started working on mine and I would like to install doors.

BTW: The pictures here are very helpful.

It sounds like you need a later version of TX Firmware to adjust the Cortex pro in the Tx.

I update the tx but is not only the cortex, the mixes like crow are really important and I not sure how to make it.

Look What just landed on my building board
Picked up at the Prowing fair in Germany by a flying buddy of mine, Thanks Nokki and Melanie from Carf

Afther unpacking and inspecting the whole lot, again you realize why each time i unpack a model from Carf the Grin on my face goes beyond the moon.....
Just Excellent quality and completely-ness, Just Briljant!!!!

I got an K85 on order for it but after putting the whole lot on a scale i came to the following,
- Fuselage 1734
- Wing 1950
- Nose 160
- Stab 280
- Canopy 100
- gear controller and covers 120
- Included Hardware 255
- Tank 90
- Pipe 380
----------------------------------------------
Total weight 5069 Gr 5.069 KG

Hmmmmmm....

This make's me wonder if it wil stay under the 8.5 KG when fully ready and inc. full tank.....
So maybe go for the K100????
But this will add up the total weight with 500Gr, 0.5Kg according to KingTech specs, and fuel consumption will shoot up as well......
Saying all this, i think the K120 will come on the list then aswel, cause according to KingTech specs its just a Tat lighter, but then again a rise in fuel consumption, and will the airframe handle the load of a 120N??

Arrrggggg, what to do, cause i got to make an decision on the engine fast......

Please advise...

Cheers,

Ed
