I have done a bit more work on the sabre with the addition of getting the nose gear mount installed i have also been able to glue the motor mount and fuel tank mount into place.

Today's progress included getting one of the two wings completed with the gear and doors being installed. I also was able to get the K-210 mounted to the motor mount rails.
Then i was able to get the nose gear installed and finally i was able to get the front half of the fuse mounted and bolted to the wings with the mounting hardware they supply you.

Todays progress report: So far i have been able to get the nose cone and inlet tube glued and mounted to the fuse. I also was able to get all 6 of the gun tube ports cut out sanded to shape and the tubes glued into place.
Then i did the two carbon control horns for the elevator pushrod and was able to glue those in place. Lastly i glued and set-up the rudder hinges last night and those are all dry and working.

Hi Greg,

Not to take anything away from your efforts but it looks a fairly easy build? Would you agree? One of these is definitely on my list of wants!!

Thanks
Mark

Hi Mark,

Yes it is a pretty easy build..
There are still some modeling skills that are required to do this but over all it goes pretty quickly.
I might try adding in a couple of scale features still but am undecided as of yet.

So it's been a while since i have posted any thing on here. As it is i'm still working on the Sabre and the build is getting closer to being finished. I have put some extra effort in on it to add some stuff that isn't part of the options package just yet.
The first thing that i added to it was the speed boards to help slow it down even more on landing than what it normally slowed down to. Then i have also added a sliding canopy to it that isn't even part of there options package but it was pointed out to me by a couple of friends that thought it just needed it. So i took on the task and was able to come up with a way of getting one to work out.

Great thread!

But I can't believe you aren't going to make the slats operational!

1. Slats are so rarely seen on models, it is such a treat!

2. Tomahawk already has them cut out for you!

Thanks for sharing!

There is nothing built into the wings to actuate them with Ravill. If they had built the tracks into the wings it would have been easy.

Greg looking good. Will be fun to see you fly it. Is the canopy electric ram some thing they supplied ? Looks like a good way to go. Dan Avilla

Hi Dan,

The canopy is all my doing. They don't supply anything for making the canopy operate. The speed boards where also all done by myself after looking at how Ali's where done on his.

The canopy was an after thought after it was suggested that i should have it operate. So i took on the challenge and was able to get it done.

The electronic ram is made by a company in Canada called Firgelli Technologies. It is a linear actuator that you hook up to an electronic control board that they sell to turn it in to a servo actuator that runs thru your receiver. They also have some that are made just for RC Use but the stroke wasn't long enough on them for my use.

Dan, servo city makes a nice little assortment of linear servos.

Here's an example:

https://www.servocity.com/html/heavy...l#.VmdJbYRRHww

But the ones Greg used look way better! And more compact! And Cheaper!

Nice find Greg! Thanks!
