Hi Markus,

I bet it will

Did you tuned the K70 down or is it still set at full thrust?

And do you fly it wide open, or are you holding back on the throttle??

Cheers,

Ed

Hi Ed,

I did not tune it down but I use full thrust only for starting and vertical climbs.

Midas D.

If you're going the K-70 way you might as well add TV, Grumania sells one for the mini. I had thoughts of going this way but unfortunately I don't have the proper knowledge and past experience to venture into this area. Trial and error is not my favorite game... I usually like to set my feet on solid grounds!!

2 flights last weekend with K45. Fun smooth flyer with nice slow landings at full flap...

One quick question: Will the stock retracts/oleos be safe to use on asphalt? I have installed the JP wheels and brakes due to our runway being rather short.

Thanks in advance

I am building the Avanti with a K70 and intend to install JP hobby wheel brakes. I have read on this thread that people are using 57mm wheels but they seem to be available in 55 or 60mm versions. Can you advise me which would be best please.

Many thanks.

Hi,

I used the JP hobby 55mm wheel brakes with 4mm shaft but my Mini Avanti crashed before the first landing with these wheels after 27 flights.
I think it crashed because the hinges of the ailerons got loose.
The Mini Avanti was too heavy with the K70G because after few flights the bolts of the main gear bent and it was necessary to replace them some times.

I use 50mm mains and 40mm nose wheels from JP. I also only fly from pavement.

Thanks for your help Guys.
Tuxian, so sorry to hear about your crash, I am now going to add more super glue to the hinges.
Were you using the stock undercarriage struts/legs. Can I also ask were you flying at full throttle when the hinges failed?

NO! Re-gluing CA hinges that are already glued can separate the fiber from the mylar carrier. Pull on them, if they aren't loose, don't mess with them.

Too late I've done it now. I did find one hinge loose on an elevator. Hopefully all will be good.

Tam Jets struts were the way to go and he offered a stiffer spring if you wanted to fly it turbine.

Jet A-1 sold by E-Flux RC are the best bet going now, though I think he's having the nose strut re-engineered the mains are nice.

had hinge issues about 80 flights in, aileron pulled out and was just flapping in the wind. landed it fixed the hinge by reglueing and pinning the hinge in. Probably my fault as I used to full throttle fast rolls with a throws that arew insane. Don't do it as fast now, over 130 flights on the bird, just updated the bird with jeti equipment and turbine service 25hours in less then a year. gotta say its one good airframe minus monokote wings. I know some day I'll have to retire it but till then I fly the crap out of it.

No I did not fly a full throttle when it happened. I will use thin epoxy glue instead of thin CA in future.
When using thin CA it is difficult to put glue on the whole surface of the hinges.

stock retracts. Jet-1A first gen mains ... the new version is longer, and tamjets nose strut. I picked mine up used, and have 4 flights now. really enjoying the ease of operation and how well it flies.

Hello Everyone,

Nice thread here, i recieved my mini avanti V3 recently and going to make a build with Wren 44, i am learning a lot from this thread.

As you know, pre installed retracts, steering servo and front wheel door servos are working with 6 V. But i have been using 7.4 V liPo in my builds since few years, i don't even have 6 V batteries anymore. Since long time, I have been choosing high voltage servos, my hitec and graupner receivers are all working with 7.4 V, retracts and brakes are same etc. in my builds.
In this case of mini avanti, i need to use 2 voltage regulators, one for the retract control unit which is supplied with model and one for pre-installed steering servo.
My question is: did anyone unplug the retracts from supplied control unit tried 7.4V on them ? (i mean NOT servos but only retracts...) I am pretty sure supplied servos will burn with 7.4 V but maybe retracts can handle.
I am trying to avoid using voltage regulators or at least minimize the count, without swapping the supplied stuff.

Any reply/advice/comment will be appreciated.

Best Regards,
Serkan S.

I am using a single PowerBox Digiswitch with a small 2s LiPo to do everything.

I use small standard voltage servos (I can’t remember if they are small Hitec or Savox). I know they were relatively cheap and everything works great.

Thanks for replies siclick33 and BobB.

For now my plan is to swap the 6V steering servo with a 7.4V one to connect it directly to reviever and use one voltage regulator for supplied control unit which is operating the retracts and door servos.
