The advice I have left for you is to take great effort in preventing corrosion as extensively discussed on this thread. The 999 is the most susceptible to corrosion.

Good to know. Thanks
So is CH selling UMS parts outside of Horizon Hobby?
I sort of thought HH had a lock on that business.

Adrian at Ch Ignitions is now a dealer for the newly designed UMS and EME engines. See him at his booth during the Toledo show RC convention April 5th-7th 2019. Or visit the CH Ignitions website for pricing and specifications.

Default Evo -UMS

Hi Guys, I just started to bring those UMS engine in to the USA.
I am at the Toledo show, still couple days Saturday and Sunday if you stop buy. I will be at Top Gun and a week later at Joe Nall.
I will have the parts and service for the UMS engines and I can help with the parts you will need for EVO.
I do not carry the EVO engines as that is HH brand. But I will be able to help also with service for those as long as the engines are out of warranty .
For the EVO under the warranty need to contact HH.
We have now the 5 CYL UMS that looks real nice and quite bit of variety, from 50CC to 210, think the 250 CC will come soon available.
Those will need to be pre-ordered as they will be available only at beginning of July and is "first come first served "
The 7Cyl are available and I do not have much stock at the moment but available within 30 days from order.

Thanks
Adrian

I am interested in acquiring the 7 cylinder 90 cc. engine. I saw one at the Toledo show at your booth and I was quite impressed. However my experience with the UMS 9-90 was so bad that I wouldn't buy another UMS product until I was sure that they have changed. Does the use of gas and oil mix avoid the corrosion problem that plagued the 9-90? Are the new engines made from better materials? Has anyone run one for sufficient time to determine if the are in fact better than the original glow powered engines? If CH ignitions sells and services the engines and can vouch for their durability I might be interested in getting one for my 87 inch Ziroli Stearman that started life with UMS 9-90 in it and now has a DLE 60 twin with a large cowl that just doesn't look good.

Personally I just ordered the UMS 7-160 for a 1/3 scale stearman. Several modelers I spoke to at the Toledo show have had excellent results with the UMS gas radials. It is the methanol fuels that attract moisture which can lead to rusted bearings if not run dry and lubricated with after run oil before storage. The new UMS line of engines have newly designed pushrods, and come complete with exhaust collector rings installed, auxiliary fuel pumps, throttle or choke push rod, and engine mounting template. Service and parts are readily available through CH Ignitions by engine guru Adrian located in West Palm Beach, Florida. There are many You tube videos online showing the UMS gas radials flying stearman's, Yak's, Gee Bee's, etc! Orders are now coming in for these new engines. The 7 and 9 cylinder radials are available now, and the 5 cylinder models will be available the first week in July. Preorders are being accepted for the 5 cylinders so engines will be available first come first served. Plan ahead now if you want to have one to install on your aircraft this summer. I'm sure Adrian will respond shortly since he just returned home from the Toledo OH RC show last night.

@ lauria,

I have talked with UMS and the UMS engines are re designed from the original Evo. They told me : " We have improved the cams by better heat treatment. Also modified the push rods to prevent falling. This can be shown in the UMS radials"
As far as corrosion, ALL Glow engines will get it some way, some where...some how even if you put after oil in. When engine is hot and running it " opens up " little places and let the nitro fuel to go in.
Then by the time you put the after oil ....that may not get in everywhere..
But Gas engines do not get the corrosion like the glow engines.
And as a FYI we will be opening a new online shop www.RcAviator.com that will have all the CH Ignitions, Keleo Creations, and many more site have now and will work in parallel for a good time.
Now that we do more than CDi's , and will expand more and more as new work shop is almost done.

Thanks
Adrian

I have a UMS 7-77 glow radial that is 7 years old. It needs a replacement cylinder head and piston ring.

Any ideas where I might source the parts please?

I think you contacted me as well and said that you source them somewhere .
I could get parts for any of them but may be a little time since I can get them from UMS...but I can get .
Also for 7-35, 7-77, 7-160 and 9 cyl EVO, "Bowman Rings" are available, some time back I sent them the cylinder and Pistons and they made rings for those engines.

I picked up a used E735 radial engine. I wanted to get some spare pushrod sets.
I back ordered them from horizon hobby and they promptly cancelled my order.
The engine still looks like a current model. Crazy.

Ok I left him a message.
Does any one know if you can cut down the pushrods from the E777 engine and use in a "pinch" .

Carburetor Question on the Evolution 735.
I removed the carb on the engine and it has the rectangular cut out in the spray bar.
I plan on ordering the Saito 120 radial carb this week but was wondering how useful the stock carb is..
Thanks

I got my Evo 735 running today on a test stand. 18x8 propeller 7% nitro and 10+% synthetic oil.
All new OS F plugs Lit by a Electrodynamic glow driver.
6200rpm max and 1600 rpm idle. 17x8 prop yielded 6700 rpm max and 1600 rpm idle.
Very fast throttle response. I am using a saito Fa120R3 carb.
Engine may not be totally broken in yet but runs very nice.

Wow! Look at that. Another Robin Hood! Mine has the older 9-90 that still has Seidel engraved on the engine case. Using a 25x12 Xoar laminated prop. Firewall was moved back for balance. Picture is in the earlier days of this thread, blue and yellow. 24 pounds. -Tom

Beautiful Stearman.
What does it weigh and what prop flies it half throttle please. I have a similar set up that felt underpowered on maiden with a 22x10.

Hey all
Also wondering if a Perry pump might be good insurance when running a stock( no modifications) carb on the 7-77 Evo.
My power loss was weird on the climb out before it stalled the airframe.
Was running and transitioning well on the ground before take off.
Just a thought....
