Dynamite .31 gas to nitro?
I have two Dynamite .31 gas engines that I want to try to convert to nitro. I believe that all I need is a head button to turbo or standard glow plug. The piston has a .32 stamp on it. The button dimension that sits in the sleeve is 19.15mm and the overall O.D. is 35mm. Any recommendations?

I don’t know for fact, but the gas engines likely have lower compression ratios than a methanol version would have. Removing a head shim or two may be enough to get good performance from it. I could also be wrong, but the spark plugs those engines use have a 1/4-32 thread. If that’s the case, a standard glow plug should fit. Just ensure the glow plug sits flush with the top of the head button.

The spark plug threads in this are bigger than turbo plugs. I'm not sure of exact size. I had it completely tore apart and it all seems to be the same as nitro with a different in her head button. I'm willing to try anything at this point because it is completely useless to me the way it is and I won't sell something like this to anybody else unless they know exactly what they are getting into.

You probably won’t find any dimensions other than the bore/stroke of the “donor” engine. Most RC car guys don’t know squat about the internals of their engines because of any number of reasons. You would need to ask someone with one of the engines and have them measure the head to know for sure. Really though, the button is cheap enough, just buy one and check it out yourself.

LRP .32 Spec IV: Nitro Motor ZR.32 Spec.4 Pullstart | Product | LRP Home
Dynamite .31 Gas: https://www.horizonhobby.com/31-gas-...xxl-2-dyne0505
LRP .30 - 19.2mm bore/17mm stroke
.32 - 19.8mm bore/17mm stroke
.31Gas - 19.2mm bore/17.6mm stroke
Unless you have an engine with a different piston/liner than it’s supposed to have, you don’t go by what is stamped on the piston. You work with measurements. The published information on these three engines (that are ALL made by GoldenLion/SH Engines) is posted above. Not arguing, just stating the facts. Measure your piston and get a button to fit that bore.

Hey man - I get it. I’m just trying to help you out. You may have some luck seeking parts through SH Engines too. You’ll probably get it cheaper too since it wouldn’t have the expensive LRP name on it. I’ll see if I can find more info for you later on. I gotta get the grass mowed.
