Ask Andy Kane for an offer, we will see how much it is total for you!

I received a quote for US$1795 plus $200 shipping from Andy for a total of $1995 for the non-electric start version. I had mentioned to him that I was one click away from buying one over the summer (price at Vogelsang was good), but wasn't sure which exhaust would be best, so I decided to wait. That was a bad decision on my part because now I'm priced out with the current price being 90% higher.

90% higher is not possible, i knew the old price list and the new one. i think the ez50 went up about 35%. due to bad calculations and other mistakes. this came out because of the try to sell the company, so Mr. Ploberger was lucky and found out that the engine was bad calculated.
sorry to hear that you missed your chance to get one. maybe we get one back one day, then we can offer it to you if you want!

I mentioned the 90% because, to the best of my recollection, Toni Clark and a few other european vendors like Probuild were advertising ~$1100 (after Euro to Dollar conversion), and now its 1995. I'd like the company to be successful and would value the quality over the competition to be worth a 35% increase. Higher quality engineering costs more. But the actual increase was higher. Naturally a company is at full liberty to set their prices, but I am just explaining the chages from how i saw them.

Ah, I would pay $1495 for a new Kolm 50, but it's $1995 through the US distributor. There lies the rub.

And for any of you saying to yourself why is he saying the IL150L with starter is $5000, that’s why.

Hay Chris,

i know its an old thread, but here are some news:

Andy has now the engines with pricing online.
All import dutys and taxes included. Also he offers free shipping in US. So no more surprises in future!

Hi guys, I'm been away from this thread for awhile, but are you talking about someone we can buy parts for our Kolm engines from in EU? I have a lot invested in my IL230 and was getting concerned. Can you send me the website? Rob

Tom, is there a new Vario Prop hub for the IL150 so you can use the 32i hub/26.6in HS prop?
Any info would be great!

hey Chris,

We have made a special Hub for Ramoser. also you can get from Ramoser a small hub wich goes between the spinner plate and the prop on our prop hub. both possible!

On the 150 you can use the 25.8 or the 26.6 is you go with 4 blade, correct.

tell me if you need help. we are close with Ramoser so i can get you everything you need.

Tom

Hi Tom, thanks for the quick reply.
So there is a hub solution, what is the price of the hub adapter?

Reading the the comments from another modeler using this same combo he said he thinks the engine could use more pitch. He has the 26.6in prop set at 20in pitch.
Would it be better to go with the 29in HS blade and set the pitch to the desired peak RPM?

Ill contact you later when I’m ready to buy the Vario hub. I’m glad to hear you have a good relationship with Ramoser.

Yes Chris, both is possible. Ours, or the Hub from Ramoser.

The Ramoser pitch is way higher then from other brands. cant compare it direkt.
the 29" will be too big. think you will not have enough airspeed. better to go with 26.6 and much pitch.

I am installing my kolm 50 in a CAP10 I've been building this past year. I made a machined engine mount with all the thrusts built in to the back plate. Everything fits really well. However, due to a discrepancy between the plans and the actual cowling which I didn't notice until now, the prop is touching the cowling and needs to be 5mm forward to clear the cowl. Tom, do you think it would be alright if I placed a 5mm spacer with the full hole pattern (10mm center and six 5mm holes) between the prop and engine hub? The spacer diameter is equal to that of the hub. The center 10 mm bolt will be threading just over 18mm into the hub, and there will be good engagement of the 5mm bolts as well. Any issue with adverse loading of the front bearing?
Is a longer prop available from the factory by any chance?

I'm a little confused about availability. Will you sell direct to a customer (ie me) in the US? I just saw the unfortunate news regarding Andy Kane.
