Drac, I will be flying AMA masters again when the season starts up. I can't imagine a 112oz servo not being enough power for this relitivly small rudder especially with good mechanical advantage. I can recall flying 1/3 scale IMAC airplanes with a 155oz servo on the rudder just fine. The 6130 is actually designed for sailplane ailerons and flaps, the flaps on my 3.5M sailplane have twice the surface area of a Divergent rudder and are commonly extended to 75 degrees of throw.

Ken, yes. The advantage is weight. With the double bevel I can use 1/8" balsa facings and then remove a good portion of it. Probably good for 15 grams of weight savings. The other good thing is that by removing the ailerons from the wing with a 1/4" router bit it's less work. Speaking of weight, I will be doing an update to the thread later today with what I think will be one of the keys to keeping things light.

this is a great flying airplane! Got 6 flights on it so far, practiced the first 6 figures of the Masters pattern today, really tracks well, and makes your job as a pilot easy. Was certainly worth the effort to build!

I started shooting primer on Sunday. I mixed up 200 grams and was able to get a light coat on both wings and stabs. Yesterday I was able to block out the bottom of the bottom wing. Unfortunately this is as far as I will be able to get for a while. At work today I strained my rotator cuff on the right side. Best case scenario I will be able to resume sanding in a week.

My shoulder is feeling better so I installed the motor mount.
The first step was to tack glue the mount into the nose. For this I secure the mount to the motor and get it onto place using a spinner backplate to align the motor to match the nosering which has the correct thrust angles molded in.
After piping in a paste of epoxy and milled fiber on the outer edge of the mount, a layer of 3oz cloth was applied.

Getting close to the end. Just a few more things to do and she is ready to fly. At this stage with just a few minor items needing to be done she weighs in at 4340g. Only items missing from that weight are 8 servo screws, strut attachment screws and some wire retainers. I'm confident RTF will be right around 4400g.

Wow!
A significant improvement, esp. in weight.
IIRC the prototype was a bit on the heavy side but this weight is impressive. Consider it is a bipe!
Color scheme looks good too.
