RE: Larger Revolver
Its a bit thicker and stands a bit higher, but the overall length of the larger one isn't as big as I thought it was going to be. For some reason I was figuring it was going to be considerably larger. Still a nice looking plane though.

RE: Larger Revolver
Hey guys...
I'm really looking for your input here.
All I want out of the plane is some good sport flying, nothing like 3d or hovering.
How do you think a .76 2 stroke would do?

RE: Larger Revolver
The manual say you can use a .61 to .75 two stroke, so the .76 will be good. Like you, I like sport fly these airplane. They are fast but a joy to fly. I hope the fog lift and the temp get a little warmer. Right the temp is 35-F, I want to fly the large one today. As for the little revolver, it is a blast to fly!! No 3D, but sport flying. Right now I am the only one flying the revolver, but I know next spring there will be more flying the revolver. If I fly the big one today, I will post my review here!!
Have a great day everyone!!!

Thanks Sonny, really appreciate it. I'm thinking a .76 2 stroke, and HS-635 HB's all around.
Any input on how you all feel about my setup would be fantastic...
Thanks!

RE: Larger Revolver
Hi All;
Well I throught I would post a flight review on the large revolver tonight put the weather had other plans. My flying friend and I pack my SUV with the New Revolver and went to the club field to test fly the plane!! The owner of the club field was shock to see us at the gate to the field. We have use of the field anytime we want to, but he was shock we did not see what was comming out of the foot-hill!! The weather at the time we went to the field was low clouds and no wind. At the field we had to clean some cow pies off the runway!![&o] After that was done, and we still did not see the weather comming out of the foot-hill ), we start to unpack the revolver from the SUV and put the wings on. At that time the wind pickup and it was cold. The wing was on the bird and I start fueling the plane and then it hit!! Very large snow flakes start falling and the wind hit 25 mph with gust of 30 mph. Our field runway is east to west and the wind was out of the north!!! ( the foot-hill is to the north of our club field ). Pack everything back into the SUV and did the drive of shame!! The owner met us at the gate and he give us a big smile and said, I will see you in the spring!!! I hope I don't have to wait until spring to fly this bird. When I do, I will post it here!!
Have a great weekend everyone!!!

RE: Larger Revolver
I'm sure you could, especially since others are thinking about 1.80's (which I think is WAY overkill)... just remember that the lighter a plane is... the better it performs.
Sonny- Im really looking forward to your review; do you have any advice/tips for the building process?
Does anybody else have this plane together?

The plane come with a well put together manual that take you step by step on the build. Yesterday we have snow, today we have rain. I guess the owner of our club field is right!!! See him in the spring!!!!

a giant scale version would be cool wouldn't it? Maybe something that'd work well with a nice 50cc gasser?

RE: Larger Revolver
This bigger Revolver really looks like it'll fill a niche. There aren't many tapered wing sport planes that size. It looks like it'd be suitable to learn precision aero and IMAC maneuvers. Especially for those of us who like to do maneuvers but aren't planning to go competitive. It doesn't have the 3D size ailerons that're found on the small IMAC stuff.
hhhhhhhmmmmmmmmmmmm I got a spare OS91FX on the shelf. mmmmmm
anybody put one in the air yet?

russm,
Here are some pictures of what I did to my gear. I did the same thing on the little revolver. The landing gear feel about the same as what on the little one and did not see much on fuselage improvments. I know it hard to see in the pictures, but, the new revolver is bigger.

I have the .46 size Revolver NIB, and a .61 size due in on Friday 11/20/09, say could you make a pair of those landing mounts, one for each size for me, and what would you charge??

RE: Larger Revolver
Nice to join the club. I just got mine yesterday.
I bought a gms .76 , but I'm thinking a saito 1.25 fs should go in this baby.
Now.. more on the landing gear mod.. Is it just bracing the 2 separate legs together as one? any more pics of mods you guys have done would be apreciated.
Had a great day at the field today .. Maidened a Reactor Bipe with a saito 100 in it .. what a sweet plane that one is .. Great planes keeps on getting better with the new stuff coming out, hope this Revolver doesn't disapoint..
Later ,
Dan

RE: Larger Revolver
I own the Revolver .46, and it is a beautiful flying plane. It tops out at 100 mph with the OS .55AX I have in it. I'm going to the LHS tomorrow to order the Revolver .61. I have a Magnum 91 4-stroke waiting to go into it. I doubt this plane would disappoint.

RE: Larger Revolver
Thanks Sonny..
It didn't take all that long .. about an hour.. with a couple ciggy breaks in between.
The problem with this split gear is that it puts too much force on the skimpy plywood rail the the blind nuts go into. The same thing happened on my 27% GP Cap232 and on my GP Giant Ucando.. One would think that Great Planes would give in and just admit it's the worst design and go back to the drawing board. Nobody has perfect touchdowns every time.
Ok .. Thoughts on powing this bird:
the .76 GMS is too small.. I'm returning it.
I do have a new .90 2s super Tiger that I just bought last week for a Mustang.. I think that may be a contender.. The larger 1.20 2s have a few more ponies ,but turn at a lower rpm. Ohhhh.. did I mention .. I want fast!!! No sunday flier please.
I looked at the Dub Jetts but don't think I want to part with 400.00 usd.. My buddy just put one in his Sundowner clone .. Sounded good .. even though he needed ear headmuffs (no lie).
jettengineering . com
Ok .. who's lying now .. I'll prolly end up with one by next season..
Okk.. later .. I'll post more pics as I advance thru the build.
